As I transition along with your child into new territory, I hope that you will continue to support your child's needs and help them follow the AVID program requirements. Continuing to check their Binders and Agendas is imperative.

Not much will change as far as scheduling or curriculum. I will continue to follow AVID students progress in their AP classes and support them in any way I can.  As far as I'm concerned they are my children and I want them to succeed!  I have the utmost confidence that with your support this will turn out to be a wonderful year for our students. 

Parents, please help your child by:  Asking them to show you their Binder  once or twice a week.  Encourage them to maintain it's organization.  Check their "Agendas" nightly, See if they are writing down their assignments for Core  Classes daily.

My Education & Teaching Background:

Education:   B.S. Ed.  Major: Health, Minor: Biology, also Certified in: Composite Science and ESL.

10 Yrs. experience at GISD and 27 years total teaching experience!   I have taught in private and public schools and have taught math through Alg. II and most every Science course in Middle and High School.  I've also worked in Banking, with Oil and Gas Executives and have worked in sales with a Fortune 500 Company.  My diverse background, I believe, will be an asset to this program and I hope to your child.
