The
Mayan Castle at Chichen Itza in Mexico. There are
91 steps to the top, and there are stairs on all 4
sides. 91 times 4 equals 364. Add the one
platform at the top, and you get 365 - the number of the
days in the year. Cool! |

Gondolas
in Venice, Italy. You can only travel in Venice by walking or by boat because there are no cars
in the city at all! Venice is sinking because all
the buildings are built on mud. |

The
Rhine Falls in northern Switzerland. This is the
largest waterfall in Europe. When you stand where
I was taking the picture, the ground shakes from the
force of the water. |

One
of the famous brown bears in Bern, Switzerland.
Bern comes from "baren" which is bear in
German. The noble who founded the town a long time
ago organized a hunt. He said that they would name
the town after the first animal they killed. It
was, of course, a bear! |

The
beautiful lake at Montreaux, Switzerland. Across
the lake is France. It's the warmest place in
Switzerland and a favorite vacation spot for the Swiss
people. |

My
grandmother's home in Neunkirch, Switzerland. It
was built sometime before 1540. Most of the town
is like it was way back then, but they have electricity
and plumbing now! |

One of the two
bell towers in my grandmother's hometown of Neunkirch.
The other tower was built into the back corner of my
grandmother's house, but it was destroyed by a fire in
the 1800's. The arch in the bottom of the tower is where
you came into the town through a gate. The gate is
gone, and you can drive through it
now. The clock in the tower still works! |
