Content Objective(s): TSW reinforce their understanding of what they have learned in Ch. 17 by participating in the “Biomes project.  Students will finish their “Biomes Project” this week and plan to turn them in by Wednesday and Thursday. TSW begin Ch. 18 “Relating to the Environment” by learning about Adaptations and the Environment in Ch. 18-1.  Students will begin their learning by participating in the Discover Activity called “What’s the Advantage of Being Green?” where students will learn about camouflage and how it helps organisms survive in their environment. 

Language Objective(s): TSW participate creating a travel brochure that illustrates and gives information on the biome that they researched.  TSW begin Ch. 18 “Relating to the Environment” by learning about Adaptations  and the Environment in Ch. 18-1.  Students will begin their learning by participating in the Discover Activity called “What’s the Advantage of Being Green?” where students will learn about camouflage and how it helps organisms survive in their environment.

Lesson Sequence

  1. Monday/Tuesday

    1. TSW  finish working on their “Biomes” project. 
    2. Students should be getting ready to finish up their projects and print them out in color to turn in their finished projects on 03/10/10- A Day or 03/11/10- B Day.
    3. TSW begin working on their Ch. 18 Vocabulary (16 words).

     

    Wednesday/Thursday                                                        

    1. TSW turn in their projects at the beginning of the period.
    2. TSW participate in the Discover Activity for Ch. 18-1 “What's the Advantage of Being Green?”
    3. TSW begin working on their Ch. 18 Vocabulary (16 words).
    4. TSW participate in a class discussion about adaptations and the environment.
    5. TSW read Ch. 18-1 by participating in partner reading with their groups.
    6. Vocabulary for Ch. 18 will be due on Friday 03/24/10.

    Friday

    1. TSW show their understanding of Ch. 18-1 by completing the Review and Reinforcement for that section which will be due at the end of the period.
