We are taking a trip to France. Where should we go? What will we do? You will investigate and give the class your recommendations.

Task

You will study one region of France in depth and create a power point presentation on it. Within your chosen role, you will find specific information about your region and present it to the class.

Process

1. Your class will divide into 4 person groups.

2.  Groups will randomly select one region of France to study.

3. You will decide which of the 4 roles you will be for your group (one role per individual in each group).

Roles

Bernard/Bernadette Bookworm

Bernard likes to know the facts and figures about the place where he travels. Bernard Bookworm will find out:  the area and population of the region; the departments and major cities; geographical formations; main sources of economy; and historical significance.

Louis/ Louise Logistics

Louise is very organized and prefers planning ahead. Louise Logistics will find out: the cost of airfare and any additional transportation needed; how long the trip will take; the cost of the hotel and restaurants; the weather; currency & exchange rate.

Charles/Charlotte Culture

Charlotte wants to learn about people and places. Charlotte Culture will find out 3 sites of cultural significance and what is interesting about them; and a regional food specialty.

François/Françoise Fun

François is the outdoors type. François Fun will find out several activities, sports, or natural areas that would be fun to see or do, and any products unique to the region to buy.

Click on the role to begin the quest. Specific tasks are assigned to each role.

4. You will study the Internet sites and answer questions on the Fact Sheet for your role. Fact sheets will be turned in to the teacher for a daily grade.

5. You will storyboard your Power Point presentation on paper. Included should be facts to be presented, pertinent graphics and pictures, and slide layout. There is a seven-slide minimum (including cover slide and resources slide) for each group member’s presentation. This does not limit you to only 7 slides. Storyboards will be turned in to the teacher for a daily grade.

6. You will have several days to create your Power Point presentation. These presentations will be shown to the class as a whole for evaluation.
