Wednesday-Thursday-Computer Lab

Students will be placed in small groups and research a particular immigrant group that settled Texas.   Outside sources will be used to write a creative story, explain an immigrant agent's job, and the culture of the immigrant group.

GT-Students will give the percentage of their their immigrant group in Texas and the location of their group.

Friday-Tuesday

Students will continue to  create their immigrant pieces.

January 5-8 2010

Students will in small groups complete a Data Based Question Exercise over the Presidency of MB Lamar.

Students will prepare their position and present that position to the class.

GT-Each student will write a 4 paragraph position paper and present their position to the class.

Monday/Tuesday

Students in small groups will complete a life size body map of either Lamar or Houston and label their various positions to statehood and giving background information on each.

GT-Students will write a description about what made their individual great!

Students will take Chapter 12 test and begin their review for Chapter 14.

Friday

Students will begin to breakdown the Presidency of MB Lamar.

Students will be placed in groups, given a selected reading, and begin to prepare for their Socratic Seminar Experience

Wednesday-Thursday

Students in their groups will discuss in their Socratic Seminar their selected reading pieces.

GT-Students will field questions  on their  reading from individuals in the audience.

Friday/Monday

Students will write and perform an adaptive story to go along with the Texas Revolution.

GT-Students will write a script to an animated version (from united streaming) of a selected story and perform it to the class

Students within their groups will design high level questions and answers for their characterization activity. Also an introduction and wrap up portion will be developed as well.

Students will practice their pieces and walk through the rotation.

GT-Students are expected to develop critical thinking questions and answers.

Thursday/Friday

Students will take the Texas Revolution test and then copy the test review for Chapter 12.

After completion of the test and review for 12, students will clean up and polish their parts.

November 9-13 and 16th

Monday/Tuesday

Students will work in a small group setting to design a flow and bubble map for the Texas Revolution

GT-Students will divide the Story to the Texas Revolution into 4 parts and then complete a Story Board to include Summary, illustration, and question.

Wednesday/Thursday

Students will view a short video over the Texas Revolution and then put together a timeline of events.

Students will prepare for a Hot Seat Activity dealing with whether or not Mexico had the right to separate from Spain.  Questions will be developed after reasons have been discovered.

GT-Students will prepare to participate in a cross discussion-taking either Spanish or Mexico's side-and debate their position and reasons for their actions.

Students will participate in their Hot Seat activity and/or cross discussion.

Students will continue developing their travel through Texas.

September 10-11 Students will present their Texas Trek to the class.

GT-Students will draw a conclusion from their bar graph and give interesting fact on their chart of places visited.  Students will design a chart of the 4 regions of Texas that will include major rivers, natural features, annual precipitation, and major industries.
