LIBRARY HOURS OF
OPERATION
Student library hours are 8:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. A library pass is needed
from a classroom teacher during regular school hours, including recess.
No pass is needed before school.
CHECK OUT POLICY
Students may check out two
books for a two-week period, which may be renewed for an additional two weeks. An additional
two books may be checked out if needed to complete a class assignment.
Encyclopedia volumes (World Book 2001 and The New Book of Knowledge)
may be checked out overnight and are due by 8:30 a.m. the following school
day.
Interlibrary loan
is available from the Georgetown Public Library and GISD libraries. This allows us to
increase our collection without finding the necessary shelf space, while also
providing additional resources to enhance the curriculum and satisfy student
interests. However, students who wish to check out books only available
at the 9th grade campus or high school library will need a signed permission
slip from parent/guardian.
LIBRARY
FINES
Overdue notices will be
distributed
to students on a regular basis. A late
fee of .10 per day will be charged, with a ten-day grace period. No fee
will be due for books returned within this period. However, books
returned after the grace period will be assessed fines beginning with the
first date overdue. In addition, a
replacement fee will be charged for lost or damaged books. Students are
expected to be responsible library citizens. This is Tippit.
COMPUTERS
The library computers are for
academic and instructional use. Students may access the OPAC, search on-line
databases and the Internet for classroom activities, and take Accelerated Reader quizzes.
The Internet is to be utilized as an instructional tool--no random
surfing or chat rooms allowed. All
computers are monitored for appropriate activity.
LIBRARY PRINTER
Students are welcome to use
the library printer for assignments.
