This year, State Required Screenings are:

bulletVision and Hearing Screening on all Kindergarten, First, Third, and Fifth graders first semester
bulletAcanthosis Nigricans for First, Third and Fifth graders 

Communicable Disease Control:

bulletStudents will not be allowed to attend school of they have a communicable illness. If you suspect that your child has a communicable disease, please check with your family physician prior to sending your child to school. 
bulletParents of a student with a communicable disease should telephone the school nurse/ office so that other students who have been exposed to the disease can be alerted. 
bulletEvery student must be clear of fever ( under 98.6F degrees for 24 hours prior to returning to school). Please check your child's temperature before sending him/her back to school.    

Common Exclusions:

bulletChicken Pox: For 1 week  after eruption appears. Lesions must be dry.
bulletPink Eye: Until signs and symptoms disappear or released by physician. Must be on medication for 24 hours before returning to school.
bulletStrep Throat: Certificate from physician stating child is being treated and may return to school. Child must be on an antibiotic for minimum of 24 hours and free from fever 24 hours before returning to school.
bulletImpetigo:  Until lesions have healed, or released by physician.
bulletRingworm: Certificate from physician stating child is under treatment and lesions are covered.
bulletPediculosis (Head Lice):  Child had been properly treated and checked by school nurse, and shows freedom from pediculi and nits. ALL nits must be removed from hair before returning to school.

Accidents/Illness at School

bullet   Safety is of great concern at school. In the event an accident does occur, the school nurse or member of the faculty will administer first aid. The parent and /or medical personnel listed on  Emergency Contact section of the Registration Form will be notified if needed. If your child becomes too ill to remain at school, you or someone you designate on Emergency Contact will be notified.
