Expectations for learning in First Grade:
My goal is for all students to be interested, excited, and engaged in learning. We begin each year with the end in mind...that every student will, at the very least, read a level 18 book with comprehension and fluency, write a paragraph, including a well developed beginning, middle, and ending, develop problem solving skills in real life situations and apply these to Math, Science, and with each other in day to day activities. Science and Social Studies will expand their knowledge of the world and their place in it.
My educational philosophy
Learning will be child-centered and relevant to students. My aim is to guide children to think, reason and problem solve through active and engaging instruction that appeals to all learning styles. I want my students to feel safe at school and in my classroom, with confidence that I will be their guide and advocate.
