NEWS FROM THE ART ROOM
Welcome back to school and back to art
class!
What we
are working on....
3rd Grade students are
creating a painting in the style of African mud cloths, an art made by the
Senufo Tribe from the Ivory Coast. Students are using line patterns
to create a stylized animal and painting the background with bright,
blended colors. |
| 4th
Grade students learned about the process of creating a metal
repoussé or relief. They are
creating their own relief by carving line patterns into tin. They
will continue the lines onto background paper in bright colors to make
their designs stand out. |
|
5th Grade students studied a variety of
portraiture, including portraits by the Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
Arcimboldo used objects such as fruit, flowers, and books to make up the
face of a person. The students are creating a self-portrait by
filling their silhouette with images that symbolize their personal
interests. |
Reflections
Artist of the
Month
Calling all students! Do you love drawing,
painting, or creating art at home?
As Artist of the Month, you can have your artwork that you make at home
displayed in the hallway to share with all of Williams! In the classroom you can
sign up and fill out an Artist Info sheet about yourself to be able to have your
work displayed.

Art Portfolios
Students will make and decorate a portfolio to keep their artwork
in until it is sent home.
They will bring the first portfolio home at Christmas. After Christmas,
students will have a second portfolio that they will take home at the end of the
year.
Come by and visit Williams to see student artwork displayed in the hallways
throughout the year! Continue to check the website for updates on what the
students are doing in class!
