Degrees and Certifications:
Hello, and Welcome!
I am a Georgetown High School graduate, so I'm a home-grown girl who has a deep love for this community. I have had the opportunity to live in other states, travel widely, and even live abroad at one point in my life, so I truly know how special Georgetown is.
I teach 3-5th grade math intervention on my campus. What does that mean? It means that students who struggle with math ideas will have an opportunity to learn the ideas through a small group setting in which I will teach. I have taught math for over a decade, and I love to find a way to make concepts accessible to an individual!
MY WHY: As a high schooler, I struggled with upper level math courses. I needed to know WHY the rules worked in order to apply them. Sadly, the teacher told me in front of the whole class, that not everyone is 'capable' of learning higher level math. Believing him, I dropped out of his math class. (He is no longer with the district.)
I met an AMAZING professor in college who opened math for me. He taught me WHY, and then I flew. I went from believing "I can't DO math," to "I have to show others this!" Henry Ford had it right: Whether you think you can, or you can't, you're right.
I have a goal of maintaining a Google Classroom with information about math topcis for kids and parents. This is a work in progress, so please shoot me an email if you need information on a math topic I haven't posted. I began the project in the fall of 2018, and will do my best to keep it updated and useful!
Here's a link teaching you how to join if you don't know how. One caveat: you need your child's SCHOOL user name and gmail password. You can get that from Skyward if you are parent connected, your child's teacher, but usually the kids know their log in information. My classroom code, which you will need is: j4fnnt. Try all capital letters if that doesn't work: J4FNNT.
Thanks for stopping by!
