    Background and work history
I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley which is located on the very tip of Texas before you cross into Mexico.  My upbringing was simple and filled with the love of God, family and food.  I graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School (Go Jackets) and then attended the University of Pan American.  After graduating, I taught in Elsa for 2 wonderful years.  On a whim, I moved to Austin and got a job at Govalle Elementary.  I taught 3rd grade Bilingual for 7 years before moving to Georgetown.  I joined the McCoy family in 2005.  I first taught 3rd grade Bilingual at the old building for 2 years.  After that, I became a Math and Reading Interventionist.  Those were all fun times but becoming part of the 4th grade team has been the best.  I love fourth grade!
On a personal note, my family and I moved to Georgetown in 2003.  We loved Austin, but wanted to be closer to family (Liberty Hill).  My son and daughter have been lucky enough to be part of the Georgetown education system.  My daughter, Bella, will be a Freshman at Georgetown High School.  She is a member of the marching band so you know where I'll be every Friday night - Go Eagles! My son, Matthew, will begin his first year at Forbes Middle School this year. He is following his sister's steps and will be playing the tuba!  Time is going by fast!
