Yes, Wagner will offer all the same sports teams and electives as the other GISD middle schools.
The pre-athletics class will incorporate a variety of activities that will help to develop the overall student –athlete. Athletes who participate in this course will be asked to suit out each day ($30.00 fee), participate in all activities and work at a vigorous level. Each week, students will be given specific training in the following: speed and endurance, agility, explosive movement, weight training, and sport-specific skills. Athletes will rotate day to day between several activities.
Yes, all middle school students must complete at least 2 years of PE credits. Pre-athletics will count as one year towards the credits needed for PE.

PLP is a project-based class designed to emphasize learner-specific goals and objectives, as well as preferences. The class emphasizes a literacy rich Humanities and STEM approach to instruction in an effort for the learner to elect their own path of learning while demonstrating mastery of content through alternative forms of assessment. Students will be encouraged to design their own learning path while managing their individual academic goals.
PLP is required for all 6th graders. PLP will be offered as an elective for 7th and 8th graders.
There will be lockers in the locker rooms for gym clothes and shoes. However, Wagner will not have lockers in the hallways for student backpacks. Students will take their backpack/binder will them to each class.
