2017 Accountability Ratings

  • The 2017 ratings are based on a revised system that uses various indicators to provide greater detail on the performance of a district or charter and each individual campus throughout the state. The performance index framework includes four areas:

    • Index 1: Student Achievement - Represents a snapshot of performance across all subjects, on both general and alternative assessments, at an established performance standard. (All Students)
    • Index 2: Student Progress - Provides an opportunity for diverse campuses to show improvements made independent of overall achievement levels. Growth is evaluated by subject and student group.
(All Students; Student Groups by Race/Ethnicity; English Language Learners; Special Education)
    • Index 3: Closing Performance Gaps - Emphasizes improving academic achievement of the economically disadvantaged student group and the lowest performing race/ethnicity student groups at each campus or district.
(All Economically Disadvantaged Students; Student Groups by Race/Ethnicity)
    • Index 4: Postsecondary Readiness - Includes measures of high school graduation and State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) performance at the postsecondary readiness standard.
(All Students; Student Groups by Race/Ethnicity; English Language Learners; Special Education)
Districts and campuses must meet targets on Index 1 or 2 and both 3 and 4 to be rated as Met Standard or Met Alternative Standard. The Texas Education Agency has produced a video that provides a quick overview of the accountability system and may be found at the following link: Accountability Video English,  Accountability Video Spanish

    2017 Distinction Designations
Campuses that receive an accountability rating of Met Standard are eligible for distinction designations. Distinction designations are awarded to campuses based on achievement in several performance indicators relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, and student demographics. A complete list of distinctions available for campuses is shown below. GISD campuses earning distinctions are shown in parentheses.
    • Academic Achievement: Reading/ELA (East View HS, Ford ES)
    • Academic Achievement: Mathematics (East View HS)
    • Academic Achievement: Science (East View HS)
    • Academic Achievement: Social Studies (East View HS)
    • Post-secondary Readiness (East View HS)

    * Because state testing begins in the 3rd grade, the rating for K-2 campuses is based on the rating received by the 3-5 campus with which it is paired in the table below.
