In GISD elementary school counselors are available to provide short-term, solution focused counseling to students in need. We focus on conflict resolution, goal setting, persevering, and other big ideas. The goal of school counseling is to support students with emotional and social growth in order to have academic success. Throughout the school year, I will teach guidance lessons, facilitate small group counseling, consult with parents and teachers, and meet with students individually. School counseling is available to all students throughout the school year. Students can be referred for counseling by a teachers, parents, or themselves. School counseling is short-term and lasts 3-8 sessions on average. School counseling is confidential and voluntary.
