    High School Summer School (Credit Recovery, Original Credit)

    GISD offers high school credit recovery courses for students who earned a semester grade below 70 for any course required for graduation. These credit recovery courses are taught using Edgenuity an online, self-paced computer program. Students are allowed to complete multiple courses, as time and class size permits. Upon successful completion, students will receive a grade of “Pass”. Contact your child’s counselor or principal for more information.

    High School STAAR EOC Prep

    GISD offers high school STAAR / EOC prep for students who need to meet the requirements of the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) tests. Instruction will target core curriculum and performance standards as set forth in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, or TEKS. Instruction will focus on the EOC tests in which each student may need remediation. These courses include English/Language Arts 1, English/Language Arts 2, Algebra 1, Biology, and United States History. Scores will be released at the beginning of June. Contact your child’s counselor or principal for more information. STAAR/EOC Summer exams will be the week of June 24th.

    Middle School SSI

    The Student Success Initiative is designed for students in grade 8 who need to meet the requirements of the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR).  Instruction will target core curriculum and performance standards mandated by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Small group learning activities in reading will include an emphasis on reading for meaning and critical analysis. Likewise, students who need math support will also be engaged in small group instruction which will target each student’s learning needs.  On Tuesday, June 25, eighth grade students will participate in the third administration of the STAAR Math assessment. On Wednesday, June 26st, eighth grade students will participate in the third administration of the STAAR Reading assessment.  Contact the campus principal for more information.

    Bilingual/ESL PreK and Kinder

    The program is designed for students who are currently in pre-kinder and kindergarten  and identified as an English Language Learner (ELL). The student must be eligible for admission to kindergarten or grade 1 the upcoming school year and the parent approved placement in the required bilingual or ESL program. Enrollment is optional and the program shall operate on the equivalent of 120 hours of instruction. The purpose of the program is for ELLs to have an opportunity to receive special instruction designed to prepare them to be successful in kindergarten and grade 1. Instruction shall focus on language development and the  essential knowledge and skills appropriate for the student.     Kid City

    Kid City is a four-week, half-day summer nutrition and enrichment program for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade that qualify for the GISD free and reduced lunch program. Students that are currently in the 6th  grade this school year are not eligible for this summer’s program. Goals are to improve the health and nutrition of children; increase protective assets among children through positive adult relationships and cultural experiences; and provide summer enrichment opportunities for Georgetown school children. Kid City is a collaborative project of The Georgetown Project, Georgetown ISD, the City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department and GISD Summer Food Program.
