• Photograph of Captain Anthony CAPTAIN Anthony is a native of Lufkin, Texas.  He was commissioned through the Naval ROTC program, graduating from the University of Texas in 1987 with a Bachelors degree in Economics. He was later awarded a Master of Science degree in International Relations from Troy University and was most recently awarded a Master of Arts degree (with distinction) in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.

    CAPT Anthony served as a Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy for over 26 years. During that time he served in numerous ships including USS SHREVEPORT (LPD 12), USS FAIRFAX COUNTY (LST 1193), USS SENTRY (MCM 3), USS DEXTROUS (MCM 13) and USS NASHVILLE (LPD 13). In May 2005, CAPT Anthony assumed Command of USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49) forward deployed in Sasebo Japan. Under his leadership, HARPERS FERRY was awarded the Golden Anchor for record reenlistments. He deployed his ship in support of numerous multi-national operations and exercises in the western Pacific. In 2006, HARPERS FERRY participated in multiple Humanitarian missions including delivery of emergency medical vehicles and supplies to Zamboanga City in the Philippines, and emergent support to international disaster relief efforts following the devastating mud slides on the island of Leyte.  

    In 2008, CAPT Anthony was assigned as Chief of Staff, Standing NATO Maritime Group Two. Upon request of the U.N. Security Council, CTF 432 deployed to the Horn of Africa, to escort ships delivering food to 3 million Somalis while conducting a vigorous and very successful anti-piracy campaign in the region. 

    Following his retirement from the Navy in 2013, Captain Anthony became the Senior Naval Science Instructor for William P. Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas. During his four year tenure, the unit grew significantly and consistently ranked in the top 5 out of 59 units in the State in Drill Competition.

    Captain Anthony accepted the position as Senior Naval Science Instructor for Georgetown ISD in July 2018.

    Over the past six years, he has helped a total of 19 cadets receive full ROTC scholarships to universities around the nation, including Yale University, Texas A&M University,  University of South Carolina, Embry-Riddle, Florida State University, Norwich University, University of Houston and University of Texas. He has also assisted his senior cadets in obtaining over $4.6 million in public, private and federal scholarship offerings. 

     Captain Anthony's awards include the Legion of Merit (two awards) Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), various campaign medals and service awards.
