• This project is a short one that can be completed in one class period. It is the creation of monster bookmarks (although any kind of bookmarks is able to be made from this process.

• Vocabulary used in this project:

Symmetry: When one shape becomes exactly like another when you move it in some way: turn, flip or slide. For two objects to be symmetrical, they must be the same size and shape

Hypotenuse: The longest side of a triangle

Perpendicular: Perpendicular means "at right angles". A line meeting another at a right angle, or 90° is said to be perpendicular to it.

Leg: The two shorter sides of a triangle

Midpoint: The point exactly in the middle

Reflection: The original and image are congruent, which can be described as a "flip".

Base of a triangle: The side of a triangle which is perpendicular to the altitude (height)

Right Angle: angle of 90 degrees

Isosceles Triangle: Triangle with 2 sides of equal length & two angles of equal measure

Right Triangle: Triangle that has one 90-degree angle

Scalene Triangle: all sides are a different length and all angles are of different measurements

Obtuse triangle: Triangle with an angle greater than 90 degrees

Acute Triangle: Triangle with all angles less than 90 degrees

Most POLYCHROMATIC

Most METICULOUS

When students complete their project, they may enter it under one of these categories. Students must understand the definitions to know what category would be ideal for their product.
