Food Deliveries
Food deliveries to the front office from fast food restaurants are not allowed. Students may bring a lunch from home or eat in the cafeteria. If a student forgets their lunch from home, parents can drop off their lunch box but no fast food (Chick fila, Whataburger, Mcdonalds…). All students may eat for free in the cafeteria. Thank you for helping us with this.
Tippit Open House
We will have our Tippit Open House on Monday September 13th from 6 pm - 8p pm. This will be a come and go event where parents have the opportunity to meet our Titan teachers and staff. Teachers will also be providing information about their classes and providing answers to frequently asked questions. We would love to see you there!
House Bill 4545
House Bill 4545 provides additional learning opportunities for students who did not meet standards on the STAAR exam.
For any student who did not pass STAAR in grades 3-8 or EOC assessments in any subject area, Accelerated Instruction (AI) must be delivered in the 2021-2022 school year (starting in fall 2021) or subsequent summer 2022. This includes students who did not take the scheduled STAAR or EOC tests in spring 2021.
If students did not take the STAAR or EOC tests, districts must administer an assessment designed to show grade level proficiency on the TEKS. School systems must determine the TEKS-aligned assessment that they will use and whether students met levels of satisfactory performance. We will address this through our beginning of the year NWEA Map Test (please see above). This means that if a student who did not take STAAR last spring shows satisfactory performance on the BOY Map Test, then they will not need AI.
Parents and students who will receive additional learning opportunities and tutoring will be notified by their assistant principal by the end of September.
Schedule Changes/ Pre-AP class drop window
The deadline to submit schedule changes has passed and we are no longer accepting schedule change requests.
Students who are enrolled in a Pre-Ap class and wish to move to a regular class can turn in a request starting September 13th through October 1st.
The Locker
The locker supplies new clothing items, toiletries, and school supplies for students in need. We currently have an ample stock of toiletry items and would love to send home care packages for families who could benefit.
We are always in need of new clothing items, especially t-shirts, leggings, athletic pants/shorts, and hoodies and welcome your donations.
Please see the Tippit Counseling Department website below if you have not already done so as it is a wonderful resource. Click on the parent tab for some great information on transitioning your students to middle school.
Nurse’s Corner
If your student(s) is awaiting test results (due to symptoms or known exposures) and/or has tested positive, please notify the campus nurse immediately per district policy. It is imperative that we track testing so that we can help identify and mitigate campus risks as well as meet quarantine guidelines.
Please be sure to screen your student AND other people living in the home before your student arrives on campus each day. Symptoms of concern include:
-
Fever >100
-
Sore throat
-
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
-
New cough
-
New loss of taste or smell
-
Diarrhea, vomiting or abdominal pain
-
New onset of headache
Please note that the symptoms we are seeing the most with POSITIVE cases include runny nose, headache, sore throat, and mild allergy-like symptoms. We have also encountered students who are testing positive but have had zero symptoms. It has been very rare that a student has had a fever.
***If someone AT HOME is symptomatic, pending COVID test results, or has tested positive in the last 14 days please contact Nurse Edmondson for guidance and quarantine protocols.
Please note that we cannot accept negative rapid antigen swabs without a doctor's note clearing the student. Per district policy, we can only accept a negative PCR test or Viral RNA without a doctor's note accompanying it.
-
If you would like to schedule a free PCR test you can click this LINK for locations and appointment availability.
If you have ANY doubt about your child’s symptoms or possibility of being ill, it is better to keep them home to monitor, and notify campus nurses to discuss the re-entry process.
Please take a moment to review our Student Process Map. This will explain the criteria if quarantine is needed with each case and how/when they will be able to return to campus.
Please understand that most non-emergency/first aid cases will be taken care of in the classroom by the teachers this year to decrease the risk of cross contamination in the nurse's office.
Our community and school campuses are experiencing a COVID surge at this time. We are working diligently on campus to try and mitigate the spread. We are sanitizing the campus nightly as well as encouraging standard precautions daily in the classroom setting.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please email or call me to discuss them. Thank you!

Interested in being a Volunteer or Mentor?
Tippit students need you! There are LOTS of ways to get involved on campus. The first step to ANY of those opportunities is to register on the school district’s website. Second, is to sign up on the PTA website. We will be expanding our mentor program this year, offering parents and community members (even Grandparents!) the opportunity to interact with students one-on-one and also one to many. Once you’ve completed both steps, you’ll be notified when opportunities come up.
(1.) Register with the School District to Volunteer or Mentor
(2.) Sign Up to Volunteer or Mentor at Tippit

Tippit Open House
