2021 Cross Country Team Information

My name is Coach Angela Harris, and I would like to welcome you to our 2021 Cross Country season. Whether your athlete is a returning team member or new to cross country, I’m looking forward to coaching, training and having a GREAT competitive season!
All participants must have a current physical exam dated after May 1, 2021 turned in, the online GISD required paperwork completed, and the $8.00 catastrophic insurance fee before participating in Cross Country. Paperwork can be completed on the Tippit website under Athletic Physicals. An off campus practice approval document is also required before participation in any off campus practice.
There will be a brief Cross Country Parent meeting on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 7 A.M. in the Tippit girls athletics hallway. Enter through the back of the school by the weightroom. Parents/Guardians can sign/turn in paperwork, order shirts, and ask any additional questions. Team practice will start Tuesday, August 24th. Cross Country is a part of the Athletics program, however, participants DO NOT have to be in athletics to be on the Team, but a cleared physical is required.
We BEGIN practice promptly every morning at 7:00 a.m. This means that your athlete should already be ready to practice at this time. We will meet inside by the weightroom. I will also incorporate specified afternoon on campus practice from 4:05-4:50 for athletes that have another sport in the morning such as football, volleyball, or other UIL activities. This will also ensure students are acclimatized for running in hotter temperatures. Our Tippit male and female athletes will practice together under my supervision.
Uniforms: All participants must purchase a XC team shirt that must be worn to all XC meets. Cost is $20.00. Parents, family, and friends may also purchase shirts to support our team. Athletes will also be issued an XC meet uniform that must be returned upon completion of the season.

It is important that your child comes to practice prepared. A few things needed at practice are good running shoes, comfortable appropriate clothing, a labeled water bottle, something to eat after practice, and most important, an EXCITEMENT for running!
