  • YMCA

    The Georgetown Family YMCA provides the community with programs and events that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Between child-care, youth sports, and senior programs, there is something for all ages at the Y.

    How do they help GISD students?

    Every day, the Y welcomes over 300 friends to Y Before and Afterschool, Yoga for GISD Bridges Students, Y on the Fly Afterschool Adventures, Y on the Fly Afterschool Sports, indoor summer camps, YMCA Camp Brightwell, and nightly sports programs across the community. The Y also provides programs through grants for GISD middle schoolers - like the STEAM Power Program that Benold Middle School experienced before COVID.

Over the past year, the YMCA has awarded over $75,000 financial assistance to our community participants.     GISD Ed FoundationThe Georgetown ISD Education Foundation engages the community in financial support of a learning environment where innovation, customized academic opportunities, and individual success are attainable for all GISD students.

    How do they help GISD students?

    One of the biggest ways the Georgetown ISD Education Foundation helps our students is by awarding grants to individual teachers of our district in order to support innovative and engaging learning across classrooms.

  • Georgetown Area Junior Forum

    Partner Spotlight: Georgetown Area Junior Forum

    The Georgetown Area Junior Forum is a non-profit organization of women who share the common goal of improving the lives of others in the community through service and philanthropy while developing friendships.

    How do they help GISD students?

    The Georgetown Area Junior Forum supports the children of Georgetown ISD by buying, collecting and distributing school supplies. They want every child to start the new school year with the materials they need to be a successful scholar.

  • The Assistance League of Georgetown Area

    Assistance League of Georgetown Area

    Assistance League of Georgetown Area partners with GISD to facilitate a program called Operation School Bell.

    How do they help GISD students?

    Operation School Bell provides back-to-school clothing and shoes to qualifying students with the goal of improving school attendance, academic performance and self-esteem.

    "Assistance League volunteers love transforming the lives of children by providing new school clothing to qualifying GISD elementary students. It warms our hearts to see the smiles on their faces and hear words of appreciation from the parents."

  • Backpack Buddies

    The Georgetown Backpack Buddies program serves GISD students at-risk of experiencing food insecurity over weekends, school holidays.

    How do they help GISD Students?

    Backpack Buddies students receive packs of six nutritious, non-perishable food Items, which are packed by BackpackBuddies volunteers, for weekends and school holidays. 

    Following Winter Storm Uri, they worked with the district to support a food and water drive for families who were impacted.

  • Girls Empowerment Network

    Girls Empowerment Network provides Girl Connect, a program for girls in 6th-12th grades.

    How do they help GISD students?

    Through weekly after-school sessions, Girl Connect aims to increase self-efficacy in confidence, coping skills, communication, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity through discussion of topics relevant to issues girls face today.

  • Education Connection

    Education Connection Partner Spotlight

    Education Connection is a volunteer-based literacy/reading support program that focuses on improving literacy in elementary-aged students.

    How do they help GISD students?

    Students in need of extra reading support and encouragement are paired with trained Literacy Partners who read with students for 30 minutes, weekly throughout the school year.

    "We are honored to be partnering with GISD! Our volunteers feel so supported, welcomed & valued when they are reading with students on elementary campuses. Our partnership is the best example of creating true connections supporting students, teachers & community."

  • Pet Partners of Sun City, Tx

    Pet Partners of Sun City

    Pet Partners aims to improve human health and well-being through the human-animal bond through their Read with Me and Walk with Me programs.

    How do they help GISD students?

    By pairing students with trained therapy animals, the Read with Me program increases a student's love for reading and confidence in reading aloud and the Walk with Me program is designed to relax students and increase attentiveness in class.

    "The handlers & dogs get such joy from working with the students and staff at GISD. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the students when they complete a book while reading to the dog or giving the dog proper commands while walking them through the school is amazing."

  • The Caring Place

    The Caring Place supports GISD families year-round with food, utility, rent, transportation and medical assistance. Their programs include a Drive-Through Food Pantry and Fresh Food for Families distribution.

    Did you know?

    This year, The Caring Place is working directly with other community partners to provide referrals for additional support during the holiday season.

    "The Caring Place serves all families within the GISD area. We meet countless families from GISD that are not just receiving assistance, but are part of the drive to help classmates and neighbors in need by giving generously. The Caring Place is proud to be part of the GISD family, making sure our community is cared for in these challenging times."
