The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program is authorized by the enactment of Public Law 88-647 and codification in Title 10 U.S.C., Sec. 2031, which states, “It is a purpose of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps to instill in students, in the United States secondary educational institutions, the value of citizenship, service to the United States, and personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment while instilling in them self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline.
NJROTC prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. The program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school and strengthening students for post-secondary success while providing instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community, and the nation.
Key Program Benefits:
Scholarship Opportunities: NJROTC, through its curriculum and leadership training, prepares students for the rigor of a three or four-year ROTC scholarship at more than one thousand colleges and universities, including the United States Naval Academy, Military Academy, and the Air Force Academy.
Advanced Pay-Grade: NJROTC Cadets who successfully complete between two and four years of the program and decide to enlist in the armed services, shall receive an advanced pay-grade in all service branches upon completion of basic training; active, reserve, National Guard, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
No military commitment is incurred by participation in the Navy JROTC program.
