Team Titan

John Stansberry, Boys Athletic Coach

  • It is great to be here at Tippit Middle School for the 2021/2022 school year!!!

I teach Physical Education and Boys Athletics. This is my fourth year serving the students and the community of Georgetown. I coach Football, Track, and Powerlifting here at Tippit, and I also coach Football at East View High School. The purpose of this page is to give you a brief background of myself and a general idea of my personal philosophy on education as it applies to Physical Education.

I grew up in South Texas in the small town of Aransas Pass. I played sports throughout my childhood into high school, college, and at the professional level. I still love to participate in sports today, primarily baseball. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Texas State University in December 2016. I received my M.Ed degree in Coaching and Sports Administration from Concordia University in April 2021.

My wife Stephanie and I were married in July 2001 and we just celebrated 20 years! In January of 2011, we welcomed our first daughter Kameryn who is in the 5th grade. Our second daughter Maegan came along in 2013 and will be in the 3rd grade. Our third daughter Scarlet was born in 2014 and will be in the 1st grade. We were fortunate to have our first boy, Nolan in 2018. Our second boy, Jameson, was hatched this year in April. I think Stephanie and I sat down maybe twice since the kids were born.

Honestly though, being a father is my favorite responsibility in my adult life. My wife and I are enjoying the busyness that comes with having 5 young kids.

In my classes, I hope to encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth, over a must-win-all attitude. I find sports/exercise to be a great stress reliever, escape from frustrations, and an opportunity to strengthen one's self no matter the outcome of the competition. I will promote the power of decision-making and goal setting as life skills and educate students on the importance of maintaining a healthy body and mind through positive behaviors.  I believe in the value of arming my students with practical, lifelong health skills, which will cross over the subject matter and develop character.

    GO, TITANS!!!
