Welcome to First Grade in Room 116
It is such a privilege to be your child’s first grade teacher and to share in their educational journey. This year marks my 24th year as a classroom teacher and a happy return to teaching first grade. I have been part of the McCoy Elementary community for seven years.
My primary objective is that our classroom is a place where all students feel valued, secure, and excited about learning.
Students will have many opportunities to work alongside peers in hands-on activities that will promote conversation about our learning and explanations of thinking and strategies.
Most importantly, each student will be respected as a special individual and valued as an integral part of our learning community.
In our classroom, students will be guided to follow these principles:
Be considerate and respectful to each other.
Do your personal best.
Mistakes are valuable learning experiences.
We take care of each other.
I look forward to getting to know you and your child as we work together to make this a special and rewarding school year full of learning and growing.
