I am so happy to be a part of the wonderful community at McCoy Elementary! This year marks my 22nd year as an elementary school teacher and sixteenth year with GISD. My teaching experience includes math intervention, first and second grade.
I received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Eastern New Mexico University, and have ESL and district GT certifications.
My husband and I have lived in Georgetown since 1991, and are the proud parents of two sons, Bryan, a graduate student at the University of New Mexico, and David, a junior at Trinity University in San Antonio.
My desire for our classroom is that it is a place where all students feel valued, secure, and excited about learning.
My role as facilitator will be to help students engage in reading, writing and problem solving activities that are relevant and meaningful as they begin to take ownership of their journey as lifelong learners.
Students will have many opportunities to collaborate with peers in hands on activities that will promote conversation using content vocabulary and explanations of thinking and strategies.
Most importantly, each student will be respected as a special individual and valued as an integral part of our learning community.
In our classroom students will be guided to follow these principles:
Respect each other.
Do your best.
Learn from mistakes.
Work as a team.
I look forward to partnering with each family to help make this a very positive and meaningful year for your child!
