School Health Advisory Council (SHAC)

  • The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a group of individuals representative of segments of the community, generally appointed by the school district to serve at the district level.  They provide advice on coordinated school health programming and its impact on student health and learning. This committee addresses areas including health education, physical education and activity, health services, nutrition services, counseling, psychological, and social services, healthy school environment, staff health and wellness, and family and community involvement.

The SHAC committee meets at least four times per school year on the last Wednesday of the month and the public is invited to attend. For more information, please contact Jennifer Ashman-Porter, GISD SHAC Co-Chair, ashmanporterj@georgetownisd.org.
