Principal Profile: Dr. Laura Sloan
I am so honored to be joining the Village Elementary family. I am entering my 18th year of education this year, and I'm not sure where all the time has gone! I grew up in Southern Oregon, and earned both my Bachelor of Science in Geography and my Master of Arts in Teaching from Southern Oregon University. I then moved to Los Angeles California, where I spent 16 years working in public schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels serving as a teacher, an instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent. In 2015 I earned my Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from California State University, Northridge. In the summer of 2017 my family made the move from California to Texas. I live in Leander with my amazing husband Spencer, a high school teacher and baseball coach, and our 2-year-old daughter Brooklyn. I could not be happier to be joining the GISD team and I look forward to working alongside the wonderful Village staff and families this year. I will be spending the majority of my time in classrooms supporting the growth and development of our students, but am always happy to meet with parents to discuss how we can best support your precious children.
