Physics

Dave graduated with honors from the U.S. Naval Academy where he was also a two sport letter winner in football and lacrosse. Following a stint as a Naval Aviator and a successful business career that culminated in the sale of his specialty surgical equipment company, he entered the education field. Dave is National Board certified in secondary science and has taught high school for 21 years. For 18 of those years he has taught physics at the AP and Pre AP levels.  Dave has been nominated by one of his students and been recognized for his classroom work 8 times in his career.

Coach Walla is also in his 19th year as a girls basketball head coach, nine of which were spent at Lake Norman HS in North Carolina. Over eighteen seasons which included two start up programs at new schools, his teams have compiled a 334-233 record . In his 9 years as the head coach at East View, the Lady Patriots have finished in the top half of the district standings in all but 1 year. In their second varsity season, the team went 24-9 and reached the Area round of the state playoffs. In the 2018-19 season, the varsity finished 20-15, was 2nd in district, and was an Area finalist. In the 2019-20 season, the Lady Patriots finished with an overall record of 27-6 and were again an Area Finalist. They also compiled an 11-1 district record, good for their first ever District Championship. Dave also has coached summer league basketball where his teams have won state championships and reached as far as elite eight at the national level. Coach Walla has also coached football, soccer, lacrosse, golf, and track at the high school level. In his high school coaching career, Dave has received 7 high school district coach of the year awards.
