My name is Andrea Koster, and I LOVE being a reading interventionist at Carver! I have a double major in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. I also earned my Master's of Education in Advanced Literacy Instruction from Concordia University. It was a lot of hard work, but worth every bit, in order to become a Reading Specialist. It is a great feeling to have seen this goal through to its fruition!
Before finding my home at Carver, I spent a year teaching 3rd grade at a small private school. Since fall of 2012, Carver has truly become my home, and I am proud to be a Carver Colt! I taught kindergarten for 3 years and spent another 3 years in 2nd grade. But Reading Intervention has filled a special place in my heart, as I love helping kiddos learn to love reading as much, or more than, myself!
As you will see when you walk into the classroom, I LOVE books -- short ones, tall ones, thick ones, skinny ones, books about science, books about people, adventures, fairy tales, books about pirates, books about princesses, and even books about math! Yep, you read that correctly, I have found some really great BOOKS about MATH. One of these days, I am determined to write a story of my very own and have it published! But in the meantime, I love to share the books in my library with the kiddos in my classroom -- and hope that through seeing my love of reading they will also learn to love it too!
Once again, I look forward to meeting you (or seeing you again!) and beginning this adventure with you and your kiddo!
