GISD Board Goals in Action
Literacy and Numeracy
One of the ways GISD tracks growth and accountability for carrying out literacy and numeracy board goals is with literacy and numeracy labs. These labs offer a unique learning experience different from the professional development teachers have experienced in the past, with goal identification and direct feedback from Learning Design Coaches (LDC), Curriculum Coordinators, and an outside consultant in an open dialogue setting.
The labs begin with a bigger goal in mind, thinking back to what GISD board targets are. This is what guides the rest of the lab, maintaining alignment with the board target of early literacy and numeracy, which focuses on students showing proficiency in certain standards by the end of 3rd grade.
