Engineering

The Engineering career cluster focuses on planning, designing, testing, building, and maintaining of machines, structures, materials, systems, and processes using empirical evidence and science, technology, and math principles. This career cluster includes occupations ranging from mechanical engineer and drafter to electrical engineer and to mapping technician.

The Engineering Foundations program of study focuses on occupational and educational opportunities associated with a wide range of skills applied in the Engineering industry. Students will design, test, and evaluate projects related to engines, machines, and structures. This program of study incudes applying scientific, mathematical, and empirical evidence to solve problems through innovation, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of different engineering systems.

UAV Drones @ Georgetown ISD

The Introduction to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Flight is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in UAV operations, covering flight navigation, industry laws, and safety.

Drone Robotics is a class created in GISD around the incredible resources we have available here.  Students who enter the class learn how to fly drones by training on a simulator and then racing under the mentorship of professional drone pilots.

Students receive training and the opportunity to get their FAA Part 107 commercial drone license which allows them to fly drones commercially. Students learn the ins and outs of drone mechanics as they design and build their own drone to compete with other students. Second semester, students take all their newfound skills and apply them to gain real practical experience. Students group up and create businesses where they then solicit clients to develop promo videos using their piloting skills.

Within the engineering pathways, a number of Industry Certifications are possible:

The Georgetown ISD Course Guide offers comprehensive details on related courses and the entire graduation readiness process, whether your goals are career-readiness, college, or the military upon graduation.
