School-Based Therapy (SBT)
The GISD School-Based Therapy team is a group of Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), and Licensed Professional Counselor Associates (LPC-Associate). The primary role of the School Based Therapy team is to provide short-term, early intervention, transitional, and solution-focused brief counseling for students in grades K-12. If a student's need goes beyond the support provided in schools, the School Based Therapists shifts services by working to connect the student and family within the community.
Each School-Based Therapy team member has an office on one campus where they spend the majority of their time while additionally visiting a number of other campuses they support. The school-based therapists work closely with the campus school counselors who can consult with parents and, with parent permission, refer students to the school-based therapy team their support is needed.
