Benefits

GISD provides a comprehensive benefits package to employees.
 
GISD offers a choice of health insurance plans and dental care plans. Additionally, employees may choose vision, life insurance, disability insurance, and other supplemental insurance benefits as well as cafeteria plan payroll deductions. All employees contribute to the Texas Teacher's Retirement System (TRS). They may also contribute to a personal retirement account such as a 403(b) or 457.
 
New hires have 30 days from their start date to enroll in benefits through My Benefits Hub. If you miss your new hire enrollment window, then you will be without benefits until our district annual Open Enrollment period. 
 
Regular employees may elect to change their medical and supplemental benefits during the district's annual open enrollment period which is every year in August when school starts.  If you have a qualifying life event during the plan year you have 31 days to make changes to your benefits by notifying the Benefits Coordinator, Brooke Irwin @ 512-943-5000 ext.6092 or irwinb@georgetownisd.org OR our Benefits Administrator, Higginbotham. 
 
***Per IRS guidelines for benefit changes outlined in Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 125, which governs cafeteria plans. Guidelines state that changes to benefits must generally occur during a defined open enrollment period or due to a qualifying life event.
