Classwize
What is Classwize?
Classwize is the web-based software all GISD teachers can use to monitor what students are doing on their Chromebooks or Windows desktops during class. Classwize can also be used to send web links to students, message them, focus students on specific websites, or to block distracting websites. Reports can be generated by teachers to show a history of what sites a student accessed during their class.
Accessing Classwize
Teachers will access Classwize by logging in to ClassLink and clicking on the Classwize Teacher GISD app. If you do not see the Classwize Teacher GISD app on your ClassLink dashboard but believe you should have access to it, do not try to add it yourself. Contact the GISD Service Desk and request that the app be added for you.
If you are a teacher of record with a Skyward gradebook, your classes will be automatically rostered for you in Formative. If you are a specialist such as an interventionist, you can create your own Classwize groups as needed.
To learn the basic functions of using Classwize, please work through the Classwize in GISD Teacher User Guide below.

- A student is on their device using the internet but their tile on my dashboard says "Waiting for Activity". What should I do?
- A student in my class is blocked from accessing a website or resources they need to get to.
- Another student the teacher has probably did not end their class or ended it without turning off their Focus mode. You will need to ask the student what classes they've been in that day and contact the previous teacher to have them properly end their Focus mode and class.
