Materials Adoption

Instructional Materials Review Process

Instructional materials are reviewed and approved by the State Board of Education (SBOE) to ensure Texas school systems have access to a variety of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM). The review process includes, but is not limited to, ensuring instructional materials align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), are accessible, and meet certain quality and suitability criteria.

The Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) process is the current review process in Texas, replacing the former Proclamation and Texas Resource Review (TRR) processes. IMRA was established by House Bill (HB) 1605 in 2023 and is governed by the State Board of Education (SBOE).

School districts then use a local adoption process to determine which resources from the approved IMRA list to adopt for use in classrooms.

High School Math Resource Adoption

Georgetown ISD is currently reviewing IMRA-approved instructional materials for implementation in Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and possibly Precalculus courses for the 2025-26 school year.

Community members are encouraged to provide feedback by completing the Instructional Materials Evaluation Form for the resources under consideration.  This feedback will support the selection committee and inform the recommendation to the Georgetown ISD Board of Trustees.

Additional information, including access to online resources and the evaluation form, can be found here.

Phonics Supplemental Resource Review

Georgetown ISD parents and community members are invited to participate in a review of resources being considered for our K-3 students. We are looking into strengthening Foundational Skills to help students become stronger readers. Your input helps GISD choose the best instructional materials for our students. We invite all parents and community members to review these resources and share their feedback. Your voice is important to us, and we truly value your time and insights. Thank you for partnering with us to support our students' education.

To participate:

  • Explore the online resources below for each potential vendor.
  • Submit your feedback through the provided Google Form.
  • Join us at State of the District on March 6. Vendors will be on site for guests to review materials in person.

We are also asking for feedback on resources for AP Geography:
