YouTube

What is YouTube?
YouTube is a free video-sharing website, included in Google Workspace, that is used to find or create instructional videos for teaching and learning in GISD. Teachers use it to explain concepts, demonstrate real-world applications, and support diverse learning styles. When used thoughtfully, it can increase student engagement and deepen understanding.
YouTube Access in GISD
Teachers and staff can currently view most videos found on YouTube, but students are only able to view videos that have been properly vetted and approved by a GISD staff member.
**Before sharing a YouTube viewing link with students, teachers will first need to ensure that the video and/or channel is unblocked for student viewing. Follow the instructions linked below to verify student access status of YouTube videos and channels in GISD and submit a Technology Service Desk request for them to be unblocked if needed.
How to Ensure YouTube videos & channels are available for student viewing in gisd
Do More With YouTube
Use of a Teacher YouTube Channel
If you have created a Teacher YouTube Channel to share content with your classes, you will need to enter a Technology Service Desk request that includes the link to your YouTube Channel and ask to have it unblocked before your students will be allowed to view it. Once your channel is unblocked, you can share the link to your channel with your students to view your content. **NOTE: This does not guarantee that public videos posted on your channel will automatically be viewable to your students. You will still need to first take the steps above to ensure the public videos you want to share on your channel are viewable for students in GISD.
