    My Education & Teaching Background

    I am very excited to be a part of the Georgetown Independent School District.  
    I am starting my 10th year as a teacher, and my 7th year at Georgetown High School.

    Class/Course Information

    In Dance I we will study various styles of dance such as Folk, Ballet, Jazz, Partner Dance, Tap, Choreography, Modern and Hip Hop.  Your student will also learn about the history of these dance genres, famous dancers and choreographers, costuming and design, and how to critique and analyze dance performances. 
    In Dance II we will study various styles of dance such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Stepping/Stomp, Cultural/World Dance, Modern and Hip Hop, as well as choreographing 2 separate pieces.
    In Dance III we will study various styles of dance such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Cultural/World, Contemporary, Modern, and Hip Hop.  Each Dance III student will choreography a solo, and a group piece. 
    There will be two MANDATORY performances.  The fall performance will be November 15, 2018 in the Klett Performing Arts Center beginning at 7:00 PM.  The spring performance will be April 16, 2019 in the Little Theater.

    • Dance I - provides students with the fundamental skills and knowledge of dance as an art form and lifetime activity.
    • Dance II - progresses into more complex dance movements in such forms as modern dance, folk/ethnic dance, jazz and/or tap. Students are also provided with opportunities to apply imagery concepts to groups and individuals projects associated with all types of dance and artistic forms.
    • Dance III - continues with more advanced concepts and explores choreography and manipulation of body, space, force, and time. Improvisation, informal presentations and critiquing are also explored.
    • Dance IV - focuses on advanced training in classical dance forms, choreography, production, performance, and dance-related careers.
