You are expected to read everything that is assigned by the assigned day.  For major works, things like Cliff''s Notes are only acceptable as a supplement to actually reading.
I rarely assign work only to be done at home, but when I do, the expectation is that it will be completed. You will often need to finish assignments at home that we started in class.
Remember, you must make academics your priority if you want to be successful.

About Ms. James

I was born and raised in The Woodlands, Texas, a suburb north of Houston.  After graduating from McCullough High School, I earned my BBA in Business Management with minors in English and Interior Design (I'm a bit of a chameleon!).  I then earned my Texas Teaching Certification from Sam Houston State University.
I'm currently starting my 25th year as a high school English teacher.  I've taught all level from 9th grade to 12th grade, as well as Academic Decathlon, PALS, and cheer.  This year, I am teaching English III and English IV and I also coach the EVHS Speech and Debate teams.
This is my 6th  year at Eastivew High School
My son, Peyton, was a student at Forbes Middle School.  I lost him in October of 2014, and have created the Kindness Matters campaign in his honor.  The goal of Kindness Matters is to change the way young people interact with each other to create positive and loving relationships.  I'm very proud of what it's become and I know this is Peyton's legacy.
I also have a crazy dog, Toby the Wonder Dog. In my spare time, I love to take photographs and travel.  I would like to see all 50 states (I've been to 31) and visit Spain, Greece, France and Scotland (I've been to Mexico, Jamaica, England, Germany and Italy so far).
I'm excited to be a part of the EVHS family and look forward to lots of adventures and fun in English class!
