Gifted & Talented
Degrees and Certifications:
I have my Bachelor's Degree from The University of Texas and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration. This 2020/2021 school year will be my 21st year in education for GISD. Previously, I had worked for 10 years as a free lance cartographer while my children were very young and before that, 4 years on active duty in the Army, as a German Language Voice Intercept Specialist. I initially began my educational career as a pre-school teacher, then soon after moved into public education when my youngest daughter entered kindergarden. I worked as paraprofessional that first year at Cooper Elementary, then a 3rd grade teacher for 5 years at Williams Elementary, Math Interventionist for 5 years at Williams, Assistant Principal at Pickett elementary for 4 years and currently facilitating the growth of gifted learners since 2015. I simpley LOVE what I get to do everyday!!
On the family side, I have three daughters, all Georgetown High School graduates. We all call Georgetown our 'Hometown', although I came to this lovely city from Connecticut... 34 years ago. The girls are grown and have moved on, but return often bringing my 4 grandsons (#5 is on the way! All ranging from age 4 to 8), with them. They certainly keep me wonderfully exhausted when they visit.
I am excited for this coming school year, even with, or perhaps because of, the incredible challenges that will face us daily!
