Amy Martens - Dyslexia Specialist
Amy Martens serves our Wagner team as our Dyslexia Specialist. She has fourteen years of experience with six years in Georgetown ISD. She has taught second grade at Carver Elementary and has held various special education positions, including resource and inclusion.
Ms. Martens has a Bachelors degree in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently working on her dyslexia certification through the Wilson Reading Academy. She has used this program in the past and believes in its success. Ms. Martens is most excited about beginning her dream position as a dyslexia teacher! By focusing on reading and language arts, she is excited to help her students reach their full potential. Amy is also excited to help open a brand new school and to work with her colleagues to create a warm and successful Wagner family.
Amy is originally from Port Aransas, where her parents are now retired. She is lucky enough to visit them often and escape to her happy place... the beach! She also enjoys painting, watching movies and TV (regrettably), and adding to her Snoopy collection. Amy has an amazing 10 year old daughter, Zoey, and a cairn terrier, Piper (who looks just like Toto from the Wizard of Oz). The three of them are very close. Life is good!
