Maricela Gómez - ESL Lead Teacher
Maricela Gómez serves our Wagner students as the ESL Lead Teacher. This is Mrs. Gómez first year at Wagner Middle School. She previously served as a Bilingual Education Teacher at Mitchell Elementary for five years. She looks forward to supporting all Wagner students in any way possible, and in particular, helping English Language Learners develop their communication and critical thinking skills through meaningful experiences that embrace their home life and cultural background. She is happy to add to Wagner’s innovative learning culture by engaging her students in projects that promote collaboration, creativity, and exploration.
Mrs. Gómez received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning & Development degree from the University of Texas at Austin (GO LONGHORNS!!). She is currently a student in the Masters of Education in Education Leadership program at Texas State University in Round Rock, Texas.
In addition to her work in the classroom, Mrs. Gómez serves as a college readiness mentor at the high school level. She also enjoys participating in activities that advocate for low socioecomic families in her community. Outside of school, Mrs. Gómez loves spending time with her husband Jose, son Jose Luis (14), and daughter Annalissa (10). She enjoys traveling, photography, theatre & movies, and watching her family engage in all things soccer.
