Note to Educators: The GISD district science curriculum documents provide the framework for what teachers are responsible for teaching as well as suggested quality resources for instruction and assessment. In GISD, it is the responsibility of campus instructional leaders and classroom educators to determine how instruction will be delivered based on the needs of the students they serve.
GISD 9-week elementary science units may be completed in any chronological order during the year. Usually, each campus grade level team works with the GISD Science Resource Center (SRC) staff to plan the chronology of the science units and to order the kits for all campus grade level members for the same 9-week period. Because all campuses share SRC kits, the SRC staff is an invaluable resource in assisting each campus team so that availability of kit copies is maximized at each campus during the year. Contact the GISD Science Resource Center staff at firstname.lastname@example.org or 943-5000, X6877 to plan the chronology of units and to order science kits.
