YouTube is a free video-sharing website, included in Google Workspace, that is used for teaching and learning in GISD. To insure the safety of our learners, YouTube is filtered by Lightspeed, so it will be important to understand the steps to take to make sure video content teachers deem appropriate is viewable by students.
Getting Started with YouTube
GISD has a large database of videos that are already categorized as Educational and unblocked in GISD. Here are the instructions for how to determine if a video is viewable or if you will need to request a review to unblock.
Do More With YouTube
To allow students to view your Teacher YouTube Channel, enter a technology service request that includes the link to your YouTube Channel to have it unblocked. Once your channel is unblocked, all of your public videos will be unblocked as well. Be sure to select the option for "videos made for kids" in the settings on your YouTube Channel.
