New Student Enrollment
-
Georgetown Independent School District accepts enrollment from all students within the district boundaries who meet age, residency, and health requirements.
Online enrollment is currently open for 2020-2021 for all new students, and campus registrars will be processing and approving applications submitted online and scheduling virtual and in-person enrollment assistance appointments as needed. Registrars return on Monday, July 27th and will begin processing applications submitted over the summer. Registrars will also schedule appointments for parents needing assistance with the process between July 27th and August 5th. Students new to GISD high schools can also schedule virtual counseling appointments after their enrollment application for 2020-2021 is approved to review course requests, graduation requirements, and additional information with their counselor.
If you need assistance, have questions about required documents, or have other questions about enrollment, please contact your campus registrar.
*Please note: All required documents and your completed and approved online enrollment application are due to the campus registrar no later than 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18 in order to attend school on the first day of classes (Thursday, August 20th). Walk-in enrollment is closed on the morning of the first day of school and will be available again after 1 p.m.
If you have additional questions about new student enrollment, you can also contact us via Let’s Talk. We’ll get your questions routed to the appropriate department/campus for assistance.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Who needs to complete new student enrollment?
Students who are not enrolled in a Georgetown ISD school in the current 2019-2020 school year need to complete new student enrollment for the 20-21 school year. Examples include new pre-k or kindergarten students or students transferring from outside of the school district.
-
What if my child is already enrolled in GISD?
Students who currently attend a GISD school do not need to complete the new student enrollment.
Instead, parents should complete the Online Returning Student Registration in Skyward Family Access for their existing GISD students.
-
Where will my child attend school?
Students are required to attend school in the attendance zone of their primary residence, with some limited exceptions for students enrolled in special programs such as dual language or special education. General information on GISD attendance zones is available on the GISD Attendance Zones page. The “Zone Locator” on that page allows you to enter your physical address to find your zoned campus. You may also reach out with specific questions via Let’s Talk.
-
When will new student enrollment sessions and kindergarten round-up be offered?
Due to the COVID-19 school closure, in-person pre-k and kindergarten round-up events will not be held on campuses; however, new student enrollment (including pre-k and kindergarten) is now available online.
Parents with students who are new to the district should plan to complete the online enrollment application process.
If parents need assistance with this process, or have questions about required documents, a phone or virtual or in-person enrollment appointment can be requested with the campus registrar. Registrars return on Monday, July 27th. High school counselors are also scheduling virtual appointments with incoming high school students after the enrollment application is received.
Students who move into the district during the school year must contact the registrar at the campus for an enrollment appointment. You can find a searchable directory on our website or simply click on the ‘Our Schools’ button at the top right-hand side of the District website.

What documents will I need for enrollment?

You will also need to provide a copy of the following documents to the campus registrar:
- Original certified birth certificate
- Social security card (if available)
- Driver's license or photo ID for parent/guardian registering student
- Current immunization record (Click here to review immunization requirements)
- Current proof of residency in GISD (rental agreement, current utility bill in your name (gas, electric, water), property tax statement, signed purchase contract)

-
How do I provide copies of required documents to the campus registrar?
You may upload all required documents as part of the online enrollment application. Please scan or photograph all required documents prior to starting the online enrollment process to expedite this process. Registrars will need clear, legible copies of your documents to process your application.
You may also provide scanned copies or photographs of required documents to the registrar by secure, encrypted email. Your campus registrar will initiate this secure process via email if you are unable to upload the documents during your online enrollment application, or if additional documentation is needed.
You can also send copies of required documents by U.S. Mail to the address listed for the campus. Please send them "Attention: Registrar" to route them to the registrar directly. If you are unable to copy, scan, or photograph your documents, you may attend a July/August enrollment session to bring them in person to the campus.
Please note: All required documents and your completed and approved online enrollment application are due to the campus registrar no later than 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18 in order to attend school on the first day of classes. Visit www.georgetownisd.org/calendar to see 20-21 school year calendar.
-
Where can I get a certified copy of my child's birth certificate?
Official birth certificates may be obtained by calling the state health department in the state where your child was born. In Texas, you may order a birth certificate online from the Bureau of Vital Statistics, call the office in Austin at 512-458-7111, or visit the Williamson County Clerk's office in person to obtain a Texas birth certificate. Please allow sufficient time for your request to be processed.
High school students will need transcripts showing all credits earned to assist in course placement. Otherwise, class registration may be delayed until official transcripts are received from previous schools.
If you live with another family, do not have one of the documents listed, or have questions about the documents requested, please contact your school registrar for assistance. You can find a searchable directory on our website or simply click on the ‘Our Schools’ button at the top right-hand side of the District website.
