    April 12th. I will be entering 0's foor all missing work.

    The 2nd semester is underway. We just finished the first three weeks. Progress reports were passed out during FLEX on Thursday, 1/31/19.  They need to be signed and returned to your child's FLEX teacher. There are many students with low and failing grades. Please encourage your child to be keeping up with their work and completing their homework. Many students have missed one or several days. When your child is absent, they need to come in, get, and turn their make-up work in during tutorials. We do current work in class and their is not time to give them the missed materials, explain the missed materials, or answer questions about the missed materials during class. I have tutorials:
    Monday - 8:00 -8:40 am (knock on window before 8:15) and 4:15 - 4:45 pm (wait for me - I have crosswalk duty)
    Tuesday - 4:15 - 5:00 pm (wait for me - I have crosswalk duty)
    Wednesday - 8:00 -8:40 am (knock on window before 8:15) and 4:15 - 4:45 pm (wait for me - I have crosswalk duty) I am not available in the morning the first or third Wednesday each month. 
    Thursday - 8:00 -8:40 am (knock on window before 8:15) and 4:15 - 4:45 pm (wait for me - I have crosswalk duty

    Here are some deadlines:
    1.  Last day to retest to bring Atom Drawing Quiz to a 70 - Monday, October 8, 2018.
    2.  Last day to restest to bring Journal Test up to a 70 - Wednesday, October 10, 2018.
    3.  Last day to turn in any late (recent work) or make-up work (recent work) from this 9 weeks.

    September 26 (Wed.): Atom Drawing Quiz & APE MAN
    September 27 (Thur.): CBA #1 - Atom drawings, APE MAN, and peridic table.
    When your child is absent, they must come in for tutorials. There is not class time to give them or complete previous days assignments during the class period.
    My tutoring times are:
    Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 7:45-8:35 am.
    Monday and Wednesday mornings from 7:45 - 8:10 am. Then I have cafeteria duty from 8:15 - 8:40 (they may come to the cafeteria for help). If you arrive before the doors to the school are open, knock on my window.
    Monday through Thursday afternoons from 4:15 - 5:00 pm.
    Progress reports are being passed out today during FLEX: September 13, 2018 (Thursday).
    If your child's grade is low, it is either because of test/quiz grades, missing work, or not making up absent work. Everything so far has been review, but things will be much more challenging from here on out.

    We will work on critical thinking, science vocabulary, science reading, science writing, and science math skills in each unit. We will be emphasizing claims, evidence, and reasoning strategies.


    My conference period is from 9:39-10:29 am. This is the best time to contact me by phone.
    My 8th grade team time is 3:03 - 4:00 pm. You can catch me by phone sometimes.
    Best way to contact me is by email. I will usually be able to respond within 24 hours. 
    Lifelong Learning
    I have been a member of the TRC (Texas Regional Science Collaborative) for the past 12 years. I attend at least 100 hours of in-depth science instruction each year. I bring back unique, hands-on lessons to the classroom from the workshops that I attend. The past six years, I have been a science teacher mentor.
    My Education & Teaching Background
    Forbes Middle School (present):
    This will be my 18th year to teach at Forbes Middle School. I started teaching 8th grade science  and IPC at Forbes when the school opened in 2001. I am currently the science department chair. 

    Round Rock High School:
    I taught various science classes at Round Rock High School for 17 years. I also taught summer science camps through Round Rock Community Schools.
