Welcome to 3rd Grade!
Welcome to a new and exciting year! Third graders grow as leaders who become more responsible and use growth mindset to achieve success when facing challenges. At Frost, we believe that all children should dream, explore, grow, lead, and serve.
If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, we encourage you to email, Dojo, or call us. We look forward to partnering with you for the success of your child.
1st Period: 7:55- 8:55
2nd Period: 8:55-10:30
3rd Period: 10:30-12:10
1st Period: 2:15-3:10General Guidelines
Absences and tardiness: Please have your child at school by 7:55 AM.
We ask that you refrain from coming into the classroom in the morning. We work hard on maintaining a routine; when we have parents wanting to discuss their child during class time or to help put away backpacks, it adds to the confusion.
If your child is absent from school, they should see their teacher immediately to collect any missed work. It is your child's responsibility to return completed make-up work in a timely manner. A written excuse is required for all absences. See GISD policy regarding excused and unexcused absences.
Conferences: We love to hear from our families! Please email, Dojo, or call us with any concerns and questions; we will do our very best to get back to you within 24 hours. Nothing is too big or too small for us to work out together!

Heather Koehler: email@example.com EXT 6237
Kelly Goggans: firstname.lastname@example.org EXT 6276Grades: We encourage you to sign up for Skyward Family & Student Access. It is a wonderful way to keep up with your child’s grades and attendance.
Homework: District policy: 10 points are taken off per day that work is late. Any work not finished during the day may also be sent home.
Tuesday Folders: Each Tuesday, your child will bring home folders that contain graded work and important letters from class and school. Please review the paperwork and return the empty folder on Wednesday. We appreciate your cooperation in helping teach responsibility to your 3rd grader!
Breakfast: Scholars can go to breakfast in the cafeteria from 7:30-7:45. If your child plans to eat breakfast at school, please make sure he/she arrives before 7:45.
Water Bottles: All water bottles MUST have a sports cap. If it becomes a distraction, this privilege may be suspended.
Notes and Money: Send all money in a sealed envelope with both your child’s name and the homeroom teacher's name on it. Please make sure to communicate to your child that he or she is responsible for turning it in to the classroom teacher.Transportation: It is critical that communication regarding transportation home is timely! We may not be able to check messages before or after our conference period. If you need to change your child’s method of transportation home, please send a note AND call the front office at 512-943-5020 to make arrangements by 1:00 PM that day.
If you are unsure of which bus your child takes, please go to the GISD website and look under the FOR PARENTS tab and see BUS SCHEDULES AND ROUTES. For other questions, you may also call Transportation directly: 512-943-5126.
Students are held to high academic and behavior standards. These are centered around those laid out in our TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) as well as the 7 Habits of Happy Kids (aligned with Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People).
Behavior: Frost is using Class Dojo as a way to communicate both positive behavior and misbehavior. You will be given a code at the beginning of the year so you can stay update daily! For more serious infractions, we may contact parents / guardians directly. Recurring issues will be handled through appropriate channels and may involve the counselor and principals.
· Check to see homework is completed.
· Read and practice math facts with your child at home daily.
· Review the Tuesday folder.
· Keep an open line of communication with teachers.
Together, we will make it a successful year for your scholar!
