     My Education and Teaching Background

I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1979.  I have taught in Austin and also in Georgetown with a combined total of 20 years of experience.  I have taught sixth grade, fifth grade, third grade and second grade.  I love to learn and love working with children.  It gives me such a thrill to see them each day and I am blessed to work in such a wonderful environment.
I have a wonderful husband of 39 years, three children, and nine grandchildren.  I love to garden and am a certified Master Gardener.  I also love swimming, sailing and horseback riding.  I am a licensed real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty.  I am currently training an eighteen month old Gypsy Vanner gelding named Navi and I own Giardino Bertucci, a new venue in the Georgetown area.

    Goals of Gifted and Talented

Our goal is to challenge our gifted and talented students.  GT students are not often challenged enough and therefore tend to "shut down" when a challenge does arrive.  Challenges can be fristrating, but are a very important part of mental and emotional development.  It is our goal to get these students used to challenges so that they have th eskills necessary to pursue any challenge or interest that comes their way in the future.

    Gifted and Talented Extension Classes

GT Extension class is an enrichment for students identified as gifted and talented.  It is meant to enhance, not replace differentiation in the core subject areas.  Differentiation in the core subject areas is served by the cluster teacher.  The GT Extension class was created to support the GISD polices and procedures for the gifted to help gifted students excel in research and create excellent products of their own choice within specified areas of study. GT EXtension class is project based using integrated thematic units.  Each unit of study lasts about a semester.
