Attendance Matters - Start the Year off Right
We know that kids learn best when they are present and engaged in school. And furthermore, it’s the law. Texas Education Code states that parents have an obligation to ensure that their children ages 6-18 are enrolled in and attending school.
We work closely with parents to ensure students have what they need to be present and learn and encourage you to let us know if you or your family are facing hardships that may prevent your student from attending school. We’re here to help. More information is available on our website including these Fast Facts.
Reminders for Start of the School Year
ENROLL
If you have a student currently enrolled in GISD who is returning this school year, please visit our Returning Student Registration webpage for more information and to update your student’s profile in Skyward. New students who did not complete the 2023-24 school year in GISD can be enrolled at www.georgetownisd.org/enrollment.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Visit our website to access your student’s campus’ school supply list.
If your family needs assistance with school supplies, let your child’s counselor know. Thanks to the support of our district partners, we have supplies for families in need.
BUS ROUTES
Bus information was sent to registered riders on August 1, and a second communication was sent yesterday. Visit our website for information on how to register in the Smart Tag app. Elementary students will receive their Smart Tag the first week of school from their campus or bus driver. Secondary students will receive their Smart Tag from their campus in the first few weeks of school. SMART tag ID badge is required each time your child enters and exits the bus.
VACCINES
If your student still needs required vaccinations for the new school year, WilCo Cities and Health District will host one more free vaccine clinic in Taylor on August 31. Visit our website for more information.
FREE & REDUCED MEAL BENEFITS
GISD will offer free and reduced-price meals for children whose household meets eligibility guidelines, which can be found on our website. GISD will be notifying eligible families about eligibility benefits and any actions households need to take to apply for these benefits.
To access forms, visit www.georgetownisd.org/lunchapplication.
Notice of Increased Facility Rental Fees Effective August 1, 2024
Facility rental fees for outside organizations will increase along with other changes for the upcoming school year, effective August 1, 2024.
This decision follows a district review of facility usage and operating costs and is designed to cover increases in the district’s utility costs, insurance premiums, and staffing for facility rentals.
Georgetown ISD remains one of the most competitive districts for facility rentals. For more information, we encourage you to review the updated Facility Rental Handbook on our website.
Dual Credit: Parent and Family Orientation Aug. 21 & 22
ACC's Family Engagement Office in partnership with High School Programs is offering family orientations for the parents/guardians/families of our ECHS and dual credit students next month.
These orientations will cover best practices for supporting a student during their time in high school programs and will also highlight ACC resources available to students and their families.
We will have two orientations, both of which will be held at the ACC Highland Campus Welcome Center:
-
August 21st, 6-8pm: This orientation will be entirely in Spanish. *We are checking on a virtual option for our Spanish speaking families and will update you as soon as we know more!
-
August 22nd, 6-8pm: This orientation will be in English. There will also be a virtual attendance option.
Please see the attached flyer for registration.
