We are excited to announce that graduation this year will be held at Birkelbach Field for the third year in a row. GISD will also celebrate the class of 2022 with a community parade.
Graduation times and livestream information:
Richarte High School - Thursday, May 26
7 pm at the Klett Performing Arts Center (reception for students and families will follow in the GHS Gym)

We will make every effort possible to hold graduation ceremonies on the scheduled date(s), even if it means a delay.
In the event that a graduation ceremony needs to be rescheduled, we would plan to hold the event at 8 a.m. the following day.Updates will be posted here and on the district's social media channels.

What times does the parade start?
9 am Students will depart from the parking lot at GHS at 8:45 am.

How long will the parade last?
Less than 2 hours; final time will be determined by the number of participants.

Who can participate in the parade?
The parade is designed for GISD seniors only. Any graduating senior can participate. Principals will share details on what time to be in the staging area at the campus.
Additional guests are welcome to ride along. One car per senior is allowed in the parade. Students will be asked to pre-register for the event. Information

What about social distancing?
Community members, friends and family are encouraged to support seniors by being appropriately distanced along the route.

What is the parade route?
The parade will start at Georgetown High School and travel south down Austin Avenue by the courthouse. The route will turn onto 8th Street and then north on Main Street where the parade ends at the intersection of Main and Second streets.

Will the parade be broadcast?
The event will not be broadcast this year.

Can graduates in the parade decorate their cars?
Absolutely! Please do so safely so as not to obstruct your view or cause a traffic hazard. Trailers will NOT be permitted in the parade.

Can my parents and friends ride in the car with me?
Absolutely! You can have as many people in your vehicle as is allowed by traffic laws.

Can more than one senior ride in a car?
Definitely. Just remember to be responsible and practice social distancing.
Only one senior in the car needs to register for the parade and should list the names of other seniors riding in the same car.
Registration details will be emailed to seniors and senior families.

Where does the parade end?
The end of the VIEWING of the parade is at 2nd street and Main Avenue. It is important that those cars participating in the parade do not stop at this intersection and instead exit the parade by turning right onto 2nd street and either pulling into the softball field parking lots for reunification or continue past the field parking and heading to their next destination.
