When enrolling a student for the first time in GISD, you will need an online pre-enrollment application:

GISD utilizes online returning student registration in our Skyward Family Access portal. The process typically takes only about 5 minutes per student, and allows you to verify all of your student's data is correct and provide updates for any important data that has changed, such as contact phone numbers, emergency contacts, and student health history.  Returning student registration must be completed before students receive schedules or homeroom teacher assignments for the upcoming school year.

Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, families have more choice when enrolling in our schools. Let us know you’re interested in open enrollment by completing this form. This form does not commit you to apply. Student Transfer applications will be available April 1st for the following reasons:

Acceptable Transfer Request Reasons (All grade levels below are for the next school year)

• ​Available in grades KG - 08 for 2026-2027 school year

  • Out-of-District Transfer - Open Enrollment

• Available in grades KG - 12 for 2026-2027 school year

  • Current GISD Employee

  • Current Active Military Member

  • Current Peace Officer

• Available in grades 10 - 12 for 2026-2027 school year

  • Stay Put Rule (High School) - (Currently enrolled only)

OUT-OF-DISTRICT TRANSFERS Interest form 

• The In-District Transfer form is available beginning March 6th, 2026.
• Parents/guardians may request a transfer from their student’s current home campus to another campus within GISD. Transfer requests may be granted on a space-available basis for grade levels and programs at the requested campus. You may apply for an in-district transfer if:
  • You live in the district, and your child prefers to attend a different school than your zoned campus.
  • You have moved within the Georgetown ISD attendance boundaries and want your student to remain at their current school.
• Transfer students must comply with all school district and UIL rules.

UIL Transfer Eligibility criteria: 

Detailed eligibility guidelines are available through the coach/director of the extra-curricular activity or the UIL. Parents should verify activity eligibility before applying.

• Good attendance & positive behavior
• Transfers may be granted on a space-available basis for grade levels and/or programs at the requested campus.
• Each student must meet transfer eligibility criteria. Sibling transfer requests are reviewed independently; approval for one sibling does not ensure approval for others.
• Approval requires a consistent demonstration of good attendance and positive behavior.
• Transfer students must comply with all school district and UIL rules.
• Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation for all approved transfers.
