Financial Aid & My Texas Future Authorization Form

Under Texas Senate Bill 2314, students are now required to elect whether to allow the THECB to share the student’s self-reported academic information with institutions of higher education for the purpose of participating in the Direct Admissions program through the MyTexasFuture.org application.

• What is the Direct Admissions program?  After the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) securely shares your student's academic information with participating colleges, students will be provided with a list of Texas public colleges and universities to which they can be directly admitted upon application - often waiving application fees and skipping standard application hurdles.

Through the annual Skyward re-enrollment period, GISD families with students in grades 9-12 were asked to provide authorization for their student to opt in or opt out of sharing their academic information with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for the purposes of participating in the direct admissions program as described within SB 2314.   Additionally through completion of this form, families were asked to review and update authorization for the Financial Aid Graduation requirement and specific academic advising notifications. 

Families may access and update this Skyward form by following the steps below.

• Log into Skyward Family Access.  (instructions for login here)
• Click on the button on the left-hand side of the screen that says Online Forms.
• Click the link next to Financial Aid & My Texas Future that says Fill Out Form.

 

The Financial Aid & My Texas Future Form will open.

 

• Scroll down to the bottom of the form. Select Yes or No at the bottom of the form to provide or deny authorization for your student to participate in the My Texas Future Direct Admissions Program by providing their academic information with the Texas High Education Coordinating Board. Your answers will be pre-populated if you completed the form during returning student registration or new student enrollment, but you can change them at this time.
• Click the button that says "Complete Step 1 and move to Step 2" at the bottom of the page when you are done.

On the last page, click the button that says Submit Financial Aid & My Texas Future.  Your form will be submitted.
